Turkey has now one of the largest airports in the world in 2018. Flights from the UK or Ireland to Turkey take between three and a half to five hours depending on your starting/ending point. There are several gateway airports at each end, though London and Istanbul are still the busiest year-round. Turkish Airlines fly directly to Turkey from North America, so most North Americans can also reach Turkey via a European gateway airport. Many travellers from Australia and New Zealand use a Round-the-World (RTW) ticket that includes Istanbul, but there are direct flights from Sydney. Airfares to Turkey from Europe and North America always depend on the season, with the highest during Easter week and from June to early September; fares drop during the "shoulder" seasons - April/May and late September/October - and you'll get the best prices during the low season, November to March (excluding Christmas and New Year weeks, when seats are at a premium). Did you ever try to get international airfare rates from one of the Turkish flight agents? This is where you can access this information through our pages. Just contact one of the airline ticket offices in Turkey and see whether they are offering cheaper airline tickets in Turkey.
