PRESIDENT CLINTON'S VISIT TO TURKEY AND THE ARTICLES FROM THE TURKISH NEWSPAPERS

THEY DRANK WINE AND ATE LAMB RIDGE: The picture on the left was taken at 'Cankaya Chalet' where our President Suleyman Demirel lives. Here the Turkish President Demirel gave a dinner to their honor. At the dinner that 600 people were invited, both presidents raised their glasses for the friendship of Turkey and the USA. The menu consisted of season salad, different types of 'meze' deli plate, fried lamb, fish shish, the best quality Turkish Champagne, chestnut sweet, Turkish Delight and lastly tea and coffee.

GESTURE FOR SAZENDES: During the dinner given to his honor President Clinton especially was interested in the group which makes Turkish classical music. He asked many questions to the musicians about their instruments and he even examined and tried some of the instruments. At the end of the ceremony he had many photographs taken with the musicians and this behavior of him was applauded for a long time by the guests.

 When Clintons arrived in Ankara, Chelsea Clinton preferred doing her shopping alone. She first visited old and historic market 'Samanpazari' . Here she bought 3 beautiful rugs; then she went to 'Bakanliklar' where all the modern shopping centers are. From one of the shoe stores she bought one pair of shoes for herself and from one of the boutiques she bought two sweaters and two beautiful dresses for her mother.

APPLAUDED 12 TIMES: Clinton gave a speech at Turkish Great National Assembly  which took 25 minutes; he was applauded 12 times for minutes. All the party leaders congratulated him as he was the first president of USA who gave a speech at Turkish Great National Assembly.
